SPRING 2026 SENATE CANDIDATE BIOS
PRESIDENT CANDIDATE(S)
JONATHAN WAMSLEY is a Secondary Education (IT 5-12) major in his third year at MSU.
He was elected to a 20265-2026 At-Large Senate seat last spring. His other campus
involvements include Chi Alpha (Treasurer), Dungeons and Dragons Club (Treasurer), Student Support Services
(Tutor for Math and Drafting), and Residential Education (Resident Assistant). Other
relevant experience related to this position includes employment with the Boys and
Girls Club, where he works with teens who have received court-ordered community service
- giving him experience leading others and ensuring proper order was maintained. His
team leadership with Child Evangelism Fellowship has allowed him to lead a smaller
group of individuals to lead a larger group of individuals - similar to leading Executive
Council to lead Senate.
As President, I would seek to further encourage growth in the student body by:
- encouraging student involvement in campus clubs and organizations
- growing the influence of ASMSUN into both the campus and local community
- having ASMSUN continue providing funding for improvement across campus where students want it, especially in the areas of safety and security with cameras and lights across campus
- ensuring that order is kept and professionalism is embodied by each and every senator and council member regardless of experience and station. Establishing specific guidelines for office hours and emphasizing the rules of order
- encouraging committees to achieve what students really want - I think it is time to breathe life into campus by getting more events and availability to students.
- encouraging club involvement by partnering with the Vice President to ensure that student clubs and organizations are active on campus and reporting back to Senate themselves rather than vicariously preparing a report at least 3 times a semester to ensure that they have plans, events, and access for the student populace
- getting ASMSUN and other student organizations and departments to a modern standard with a media representation (radio show, social media, newspaper/newsletter, etc.)
- loudly proclaim the will of the students to the administration
- silence the disrespect of this institution amongst the student body and even amongst the student organization that seeks to serve said body
- unwaveringly stand up for those who cannot and ensure that the voiceless are given a voice to advocate for their needs and desires
- establish a lasting legacy of professionalism and involvement that each senator can look back on in contentment of the impact that they have made
