This program tackles one of today’s most pressing challenges: fostering lifelong healthy habits in children and adolescents. Graduates earn a Class II Teaching Certificate endorsed in Health and Physical Education (K-12), equipping them to create dynamic learning environments that encourage physical activity and overall wellness.

Why Choose the Health and Physical Education K-12 Program?

If you love sports, coaching, and health education, MSU-Northern’s HPE program is your gateway to a rewarding teaching career. You’ll gain in-depth training to teach students the fundamentals of fitness, nutrition, and healthy living, addressing the growing need for qualified health and physical education teachers.

With a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on practicums, and coaching opportunities, this program ensures you’re ready to inspire students and promote lifelong wellness.

While Elementary Education prepares teachers for general classroom instruction, Health and Physical Education focuses specifically on:

  • Promoting physical fitness and wellness across all K-12 grade levels.
  • Developing and delivering health and fitness instruction.
  • Coaching sports and fostering physical and mental well-being.
