Campus Safety: ReSPONSE (Information on sexual violence)

Montana State University-Northern does not tolerate intimate partner or sexual violence on campus (see campus policy 601.4 Relationship and Dating Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking Policy). To address these issues, MSU-Northern offers services for relationship and dating violence, sexual assault and stalking prevention for students and employees through the ReSPONSE Office. Funded by a grant from the Office on Violence Against Women of the US Department of Justice, ReSPONSE is the campus associate in the coordinated community response (CCR) to domestic and sexual violence in the Havre area. In partnership with campus departments, the local domestic abuse program, and local law enforcement and justice systems, ReSPONSE provides services to MSUN students, faculty and staff to provide a safe environment for the campus community. Visit the ReSPONSE website for more information.

ReSPONSE provides a wide variety of services to victims of sex offenses this includes, but is not limited to, on-campus counseling and referrals to off-campus resources. ReSPONSE partners with several community agencies (Golden Triangle Mental Health and HRDC Domestic Abuse Program).

Another service is that ReSPONSE will work with Housing, Judicial Affairs, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Business Office to change a victim’s academic and living situations after an alleged sex offense and of the options for changes, if changes are requested by the victim and are reasonably available.
