Spam

University email addresses are publicly available and attract a log of spam. Users are strongly encouraged to Think Before You Click - Ignore unsolicited emails, and be wary of attachments, links and forms in emails even if they appear to come from someone you know. If it's unexpected or suspicious for any reason, don't click on it.  You can send a screenshot of the email to the Help Desk and ask for confirmation whether or not the email is legitimate.

Safe Computing

Hackers target individual computers in order to use them as entry points to the university network. A compromised network puts the personal identification information of all students, faculty and staff at risk. Keeping your computer safe is the first line of defense to protect everyone.

Apply all system updates as soon as possible!  If your computer is telling you it needs to restart to complete updates, restart it.  Don't get impatient and turn it off hoping it will restart faster.
