The best way to avoid being a bandwidth hog is to remove all peer-to-peer file-sharing programs from your computer. Use the Add/Remove Programs window in the Control Panel to uninstall these programs – just as you would remove any program from your Windows system.

  1. Double click on the My Computer icon on your desktop and then the Control Panel iconControl Panel icon
    -or-

use the Start menu: Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel.
  2. Double click on the Add/Remove Programs icon Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. In the Add/Remove Programs window, select Change or Remove Programs (if it isn't already selected). You will see a list of installed software.
  4. Click once to highlight the software you would like to remove, then click on the Add/Remove button.
  5. A confirmation box may appear asking if you want to completely remove the software and all its components. Click Yes.
  6. If you have more than one program to remove, when prompted to reboot the computer, click No. Then follow steps 1-4 again until you have removed all file sharing programs.
  7. Make sure you reboot the system when you are finished.

Unintalling programs will not remove any data files (like MP3 files) that you have on your computer.
