Why I chose Northern... Chad Forest
"I was looking at several colleges. After I visited MSU-Northern my mind was made up and I stopped looking." Chad Forest, a student majoring in Agricultural Operations Technology, says a campus visit was a "huge" factor in his decision to attend MSU-Northern. During the campus visit, "I had the opportunity to meet with the professors in the Ag program and I just knew it was the place I wanted to be."Chad Forest Agricultural Operations Technology Major What I like about Northern"It just fits," says Freshman Sheena Herzog about MSU-Northern. Herzog's graduating high school class from Fort Benton, Montana was just 29 students and she was initially worried that she would be overwhelmed by the size of a college campus. But like slipping into a great pair of shoes or your favorite pair of jeans, Herzog felt good when she `tried on' MSU-Northern. "I immediately felt comfortable with the size of the campus and everyone was so friendly!" Herzog visited the campus twice before making a decision, once with her classmates and once with her family. Each time she was impressed by the familial atmosphere that she encountered. Herzog met with The Career Center and toured the residence hall rooms. Both encounters made her decision that much easier. "I was able to learn about the work study program and see where I would be living. I could actually see myself going to college here and I liked what I saw!" "Northern's Rodeo team was also a big factor in my decision," says Herzog, who competes in Breakaway Roping and Goat Tying. Now that Herzog is attending school at MSU-Northern, she says her campus visits provided her with an accurate view of what life as a student here is like. "I really like the size of the campus and the small classes." As an Elementary Education major, Herzog feels she chose a college that fits her needs perfectly. She competes with the Rodeo team and participates in the work study program by working in the Admissions Office to help offset her tuition costs and expenses. Herzog also feels she is getting the most out of her college experience by living on campus. "I have met a ton of people and it's nice to be able to walk to all my classes. I am also more involved in campus activities because it's so easy when you live in the dorms." Sheena Herzog Elementary Education Major NEW Freshman & NEW Transfer students:
