Lady Bulldogs with a convincing 3 game sweep 30-22, 30-20, and
30-16. In the semifinals against Carroll College, the Skylights
gave the nationally ranked Lady Saints all they could handle in
a 4 game loss. "We were up and down this weekend, which has
pretty much been the case all year," Head Coach Lisa Handley
said. "But I told them to be proud of what they accomplished.
They surprised a lot of people this weekend. It will also provide
a foundation for next year with the bulk of the players returning.
In the long run, this will be great for our younger players' confidence.
They are going to benefit in the spring season and next fall."
The Skylights will lose the services of seniors Emmy Olson,
Tanja Bruski, and Mitsu Phillips. Bruski, of Billings,
MT, and Phillips, of Great Falls, MT, both earned Frontier Conference
honorable mention for their performance this season. Bruski, who
earned allconference honors during the 2002 season, led the Skylights
with 96 blocks and 46 aces on the season. Bruski finished second
in the conference in hitting percentage at close to 30 percent and
finishing with 192 kills on the season. After missing last season,
Phillips returned to lead Northern in kills with 280 in 94 games
with a 25 percent hitting percentage. Nicole Kruse, a true
freshman from Huntley, MT, was named to the Frontier Conference
all freshman team. She led Northern in digs with 532 and had several
30+ dig matches this season. Emmy Olson, of Wolf Point, was named
to the prestigious 2003 Daktronics NAIA Volleyball All America Scholar
Athlete team.
