MSU-Northern & Fort Peck Sign Articulation Agreement
Winter 2004

Thanks to an Articulation Agreement between Montana State University Northern and Fort Peck Community College, students at Fort Peck Community College will be able to make the transition from a two year Associate of Arts Degree to a four year MSUN Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Technology.

"This program was started so FPCC students could complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Technology with a minor in Small Business Management in four years without ever coming to MSU-Northern's campus. Classes are taught on site through adjunct faculty, North Net, or by videotape. FPCC students are able to stay with their families and continue working; travel is no longer a necessity," says Shauna Albrecht, MSU-Northern's Advising Center Coordinator.

Four of Northern's classes are being offered this spring semester with twenty students already enrolled. An additional fifteen FPCC students are currently completing prerequisites and are expected to begin MSUN classes next fall. Classes are taught simultaneously at both the Poplar and the Wolf Point sites and are all facilitated by FPCC faculty.

"This agreement allows student; to seamlessly transfer credits from FPCC to Northern. This maks it more cost effective for students and they can stay where they already have a support system, at home, with their families," says Ilene Standen, Business Program Coordinator for FPCC. "Input and instruction from other institutions also broadens the horizons for the student. It makes them more employable."

Standen adds, "Students are really enthusiastic. Word of mouth is our best advertising. I get more interested students everyday."
