Dr. Orville Butler, assistant professor of history, replaces Gary Knarr. He earned his bachelor's in physics, his first master's in history and philosophy of science, second master's in international trade law, and his Ph. D. in history. He recently taught one year as visiting professor of management at Bond University in Gold Coast, Australia. Butler is contracted with the Kennedy Space Center to co write the center's history.

Norton Pease, assistant professor of graphic design, comes to replace Randy Waln. Holding an MFA from Washington University St. Louis, he last taught at Baruch College, City University of New York. Pease holds a U.S. patent for a painting and ceramic glazing technique. He has been published in several periodicals and has exhibited in Chicago and New York.

Katherine Williams is assistant professor in community service. She was EOC director at MSU Northern 1991-1999. Holding a B.S. in Education, an M.A. in Higher Education Administration and a doctorate in Adult and Community Education, she replaces Kevin Brown. Williams was Student Support Services director at Indiana University East in Indiana; department chair for General Education at Indiana Vocational Technical College; and has previously taught at Wilberforce University; Dominica Teacher's College in the West Indies and Horry-Georgetown Technical College in South Carolina.

Terry Blosser is assistant professor of communications and teaches composition and speech. He received his B.S. from Ohio University in Athens and his M.A. from Purdue University in Iowa. Blosser has taught at Lees College in Kentucky, the University of
Kentucky, Ohio State University, and Flathead Valley Community College. In addition to teaching, he has spent 13 years in the field of college marketing and public relations, and is a summer ranger in Glacier National Park.

Vickie Clouse, who has taught part time at Northern since 1989, replaces Duane Klarich as assistant professor of biology and earth sciences. She earned her B.S. and M.Ed. from Northern and has graduate research credits from MSU Bozeman. Clouse did her graduate research topic on stratigraphy and paleo-geography of dinosaur nesting grounds in Hill County and found the first evidence of dinosaurs nesting on a tidally influenced coastal plain. She coauthored a scientific paper on Hill County nesting grounds with John R. "Jack" Homer.

Monte Bawden, who teaches anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and microbiology at Lewistown, was a U.S. Navy scientist specializing in tropical diseases before coming to Northern. He has a B.A. from the University of California Riverside and a Ph.D. from Rutgers University. Previously Bawden held a position as professor of microbiology at the Military
Medical School in Maryland, and did a post doctoral fellowship in the Harvard School of Public Health with a Nobel Prize winner named Thomas Weller.
