Spring 2000 
The Montana State University-Northern Lights Wrestling Team earned its third straight national championship March 3rd and 4th in Saint Charles Missouri. Northern was lead by two individual national champions, Jason Fratzke at 133 pounds and Turk Lords at 184 pounds. Lords championship was his third consecutive. Other placers for the Lights at nationals include Tyson Thiverage who finished second, Abel Valdez and Brendan Bums fourth, Lyle Cronk and Mark Lane fifth, Chris Hayes sixth, Jesse Schafer and Darmion Martindale seventh and Tamien Lebuff finished eighth. Montana State University-Northern Head Coach David Ray was named National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) coach of the year.
