Montana State University-Northern's innovative program is the only one of it’s kind in Montana and has the broad support of the state’s plumbing industry. Our Associate of Applied Science degree in plumbing integrates the theory and application of today's plumbing materials, technology, and installation practices with the requirements of the state plumbing code to prepare the graduate for entry into the field of plumbing as an apprentice plumber.

The plumbing degree contains all of the general education core courses, technical/applied arts courses, and plumbing courses to provide the student with a comprehensive course of study designed to make the program graduate a valuable asset to the plumbing industry and to provide the graduate with a lifetime career in the trade of journeyman plumber.

Graduates of the Associate degree program are qualified to perform the joint making and installation necessary to work under the supervision of a licensed journeyman plumber and, following three additional years of on the job training, qualify for and be successful at obtaining a journeyman plumber license.
