The National Society of Leadership and Success logoThe National Society of Leadership and Success is the nation's largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. The NSLS currently has over a million members nationwide. MSU-Northern first established their NSLS Chapter in 2018.

Mission: Building leaders who make a better world.

The NSLS is an organization that helps MSU-Northern students discover and achieve their goals. The NSLS offers life-changing lectures from the nation's leading presenters and a community where like-minded, success-oriented individuals come together and help one another succeed. The NSLS also serves as a powerful force of good in the greater community by encouraging and organizing action to better the world.

In addition to honorable distinction, the NSLS provides a step-by-step program (see "Steps to Induction" below) for members to build their leadership skills through participation at their campus or online. Upon completion of the program, members receive their leadership certificate and take their place among the top student leaders at MSUN and across the country. Members are able to list their affiliation on all statements of personal accomplishment, including their resume. Leadership development is important at any stage of life, and this program is something that can help students grow personally and professionally.

Membership is for life and provides access to benefits including scholarships and awards, employer recruitment through an online job bank, and discounts on computers, textbooks, graduate school prep courses, insurance, and much more.

Steps to Induction:

Eligible members will be invited to participate in an Orientation (1 hour) and Leadership Training Day (2 hours). Depending on circumstances these events will be held on-campus and online, or only online. During these events, MSU-Northern chapter leaders will host live training that will include videos and training modules accompanied by a workbook to facilitate understanding of the material covered.
Eligible members will be invited to participate in at least 3 Speaker Broadcast events (1.5 hours each). Depending on circumstances these events will be held on-campus and online, or only online. Speaker Broadcasts feature leaders, celebrities, and best-selling authors discussing topics such as leadership, identifying goals, facing challenges, personal growth, and successfully transitioning from college to career. Past speakers have included Jim Kwik, Valerie Jarrett, Tiki Barber, Steve Madden, Dr. Oz, Sir Richard Branson, Anderson Cooper, Trevor Noah, Matthew McConaughey, and many more.
Eligible members will participate in three Success Networking Team (SNT) meetings. SNT meetings are planning sessions designed to help you set goals and overcome obstacles. Using a proven formula for producing results, you will clarify your goals, benefit from other people's experience, and commit to specific action steps to achieve your desired results. You will then submit 3 SNT reports to NSLS.org after each SNT meeting. SNT teams may be composed of fellow NSLS members or your family and friends.
Once the steps above are completed, preferably in one semester, an induction ceremony is held, members are given their induction kids, and are then officially inducted into NSLS.
