CAMPUS STAFF: MARGARET L. MEGGS, M.A., Director Margaret L. Meggs established ReSPONSE in 2003 and wrote successful continuation grants in 2004 and 2006. Before moving to Montana, she taught Women's Studies at Middle Tennessee State University and was a staff member with the Vanderbilt University Women's Studies Program. She holds a Master's degree in Religious Education with an emphasis in women and religion from Scarritt Graduate School in Nashville, TN, and a Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre from Lambuth University in Jackson, TN. Margaret has worked professionally and personally in anti-oppression movements for many years, proudly owning the often insulting labels thrown at her. She knows she's doing her job if she makes people mad. Currently, Margaret is working hard to reclaim a personal relationship with the word "virago," which Webster's defines as (1) A woman of extraordinary stature, strength and courage, and (2) A woman regarded as loud, scolding, ill-tempered, quarrelsome or overbearing! DEB LATRAY, Administrative Assistant and Outreach Coordinator Deb has worked for ReSPONSE since 2003, just shortly after Northern received the grant. She is very active in the Montana Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and is the chair of the Women of Color Task Force. Deb also volunteers with the DELTA program which deals with prevention for youth ages 12-18, and has been to numerous trainings to keep her skills at the top of the game. She has been married to her husband, Marlin for 28 years and has two daughters, Lisa (Eric) Stiffarm and Sonya LaTray and two beautiful grandchildren, Bryan, 4 years and Zoe, 8 months. Her goal is to finish her last class so she can complete her degrees of Communication Studies and Community Service. DEBRA KLEMANN, LCPC, Counselor Debra is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Montana and is currently in private practice in Havre. She received her Master of Science degree in marriage and family therapy from Montana State University. Over the past ten years, she has practiced therapy and provided mental health consultation in a variety of settings, including a training and research clinic, private practice, a school district, a child development center and a University agency. Debra has specialization and extensive training in helping people overcome traumatic events. She works with the University of Montana in providing evidence-based practices for the treatment of traumatic stress. Through her education and experience, she has been trained to assist with a wide-range of relationship and personal issues. These areas include conflict-resolution, anxiety, depression, parenting skills, stress reduction, family crisis and other mental health disturbances.
