Microsoft logo   The MSU system has a software site licensing agreement with Microsoft®. The agreement gives us access to a wide complement of Microsoft® software, including the most current versions of licensed software for:

• Microsoft® Campus Desktop (consisting of Office Professional and Office Macintosh, Windows Upgrade, and Core CAL)
• Sharepoint Designer Web site creation and management Tool,
• Project
• Publisher
• Visual Studio® Professional Edition
• Visio Professional

This agreement covers all University owned or leased computers: faculty, staff, and all open access computer lab machines.

In addition, faculty and staff are able to purchase a license for any of the above listed software for use on one of their home computers, "for work related purposes".

As part of our Campus Agreement, students are entitled to install on their personal computer any supported version of Microsoft Office. This software is available through the MSU-Northern Bookstore, and there is a minimal charge for the cost of the media.

Software is only licensed to run during the period of the contract. If MSUN does not renew the agreement or exercise the buyout option or otherwise purchase perpetual licenses for the Software, then the Software licensed under this agreement must be deleted and removed from all computers at the time that the agreement expires or is terminated.

Microsoft® reserves the right to include in the Software any proactive technical disabling mechanisms that would enable them, with a timed device, to disable the Software once this agreement has expired or is terminated. Be advised that Users would likely suffer data loss or other system errors or malfunctions if they continue to run copies of the Software after the termination or expiration of this agreement.

The current agreement expires July, 2010.

 
     
McAfee logo   The MSU system has a software license program with McAfee®. This program covers all University owned or leased computers: faculty, staff, and all open access computer lab machines.

Students may purchase a copy from the Bookstore at a nominal cost.

Faculty/staff owned or leased machines are not included in this program.

Software Use

Each copy of all software used at the Northern must be covered by a license agreement. If it is not, its use is illegal.

Exceptions:
• Shareware - whose use should be registered as specified by the owner,
• Public domain software, and
• Software developed by the University
