Courtesy Borrowers
Area residents, including Hi-Line high school students, are welcome
and encouraged to use the Vande Bogart Library facility. Hi-Line elementary
and junior high school students are also welcome when accompanied by a
parent or responsible adult.
The Vande Bogart Library endeavors to act as a back up agency in support
of both Hi-Line schools and public libraries. The local librarian can function
in a liaison capacity.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Area residents may complete an application for a library card on their
initial visit to the Vande Bogart Library. Library cards are issued to
persons 18 years of age or older, and to any high school student for whom
a parent or legal guardian has signed a card application. The card will
be mailed to the applicant within a few days, may be used immediately upon
receipt, and will be valid for one year from date of issue.
The cardholder may have two books checked out at a time.
A valid library card must be shown to check out material.
Most materials in the book stacks can be borrowed for three weeks. A three week renewal is permitted in most cases.
Renewals can be made at the Circulation Desk in person with materials in hand;
via telephone (265-3706, ext. 3037); or via email to jestrab@msun.edu.
Renewals will not be permitted if other patrons have requested the library
to hold the material for them.
Periodicals (magazines and newspapers), reference books, and certain
other restricted materials do not circulate outside the library for courtesy
borrowers.
All library materials are subject to recall when needed for reserve.
The person who borrows library material accepts all conditions and policies
of the Vande Bogart Library and is responsible for the material that s/he
has borrowed. If the material is lost or damaged, the borrower will be
charged for replacement cost plus a processing fee. Overdue items will
be fined 50 cents per day. Materials not returned by the
end of the semester will be billed to the borrower.
Failure to return or pay for materials will result in suspension of
library privileges and/or revoking of the library card.
Certain equipment and areas in the library are for Montana State University-Northern
faculty, staff, and student use. This includes the group
study room, the conference room, and the video viewing room. Other equipment
and areas may be used by all patrons.
