Library Collections

Main or Stacks
The main collection, containing over 100,000 books, is found on the lower level.

Periodicals
Over 300 journal and newspaper titles are found on the main floor.

Oversize (Q or OVER)
Books that are too large to fit on regular shelves are separated into the oversize section, which is found on the lower level of the library.

U.S. Government Documents
MSU-Northern receives selected Federal Government Documents which are located on the lower level of the library.

CRC
This small collection of K-12 textbooks and teaching guides, is found on the lower level.

Montana Documents
MSU-Northern also receives selected Montana State Government Documents.

Reference
On the main floor, reference contains encyclopedias, dictionaries, guides, and statistical resources commonly used by faculty and students.

Special Collections and Archives
Non-circulating collection of historical books, papers, manuscripts and photographs pertaining to MSU-Northern and North Central Montana.

Juvenile
Both fiction and non-fiction juvenile books are on the lower level.  For names and call numbers of award winning children's books, click here.

Miscellaneous
The library also has small collections of cassettes, maps, atlases, videos, microfilm and microfiche, and equipment.


 
 

Materials in the Vande Bogart Library are arranged by the Library of Congress Classification system, the Dewey Decimal Classification system or the Superintendent of Documents Classification system.
