For many students and their families, the final decision about which college you'll attend will depend on many factors. And that's how it should be. We've put together some of the most commonly asked questions we receive (along with the answers of course!) Yes. Northern is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) and ABET for the Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Degree programs range from teacher education to engineering technology, emphasizing both technology and liberal arts education. Northern programs are in the disciplines of business, nursing, engineering and mechanical technology, teacher education, natural sciences, and humanities. Check out our programs! Freshman who have graduated less than three years prior to seeking attendance at Northern need to meet ONE of these standards: • Enhanced ACT Composite Score of 20 or higher
In order for Northern to receive your standardized test scores or FAFSA information, you will need to know our codes for each. Approximately 90% of students at Northern receive some form of financial aid. Visit the Financial Aid section of our web site for more information on how you can receive aid for your education and what types of aid are available. Northern does not require students to have their own computer. With more than a dozen computer labs, we have a high computer to student ratio. However it is always more convenient to have your own computer available anytime you need it. And if you're going to be living in the residence halls, high speed internet connections are available in every room. Students who have fewer than 30 total credit hours are required to live in the residence halls. You can request an exemption. Exemptions are granted if 1. you are married, 2. are a single parent, 3. registered for six or fewer credit hours, live with your parents, 5. are over 21 years of age, or 6. live with a member of your immediate family (parents, siblings). Since we offer traditional residence halls with both single and double occupancy, you have options. Visit the Residence Life web site for the current rates. We strongly encourage you to have a roommate, but it is typically not required unless space in the residence halls is limited. Your roommate might possibly end up being your best friend for the rest of your life! We only allow fish in a 5-gallon tank or smaller, but you can bring pictures of your pets back home! Yes, students can have a car on campus. Montana State University-Northern competes in the NAIA Frontier Conference. We offer Men's and Women's Basketball, Football, Women's Golf, Rodeo, Women's Volleyball and Wrestling. Visit the Athletics web site to find out more about the teams.
