New Student Scholarships: Miscellaneous

Name: Burlington Northern Foundation Jim & Mittie Erickson Scholarship
Criteria: $1,000 per year over 4 years (total award $4000). Must have applied to and be accepted to MSUN in a 4-year degree and plan to stay at Northern and pursue a course of study that will culminate in a baccalaureate degree. Student will have a record of high academic standards. Must be a full-time student and make progress toward a degree to have the $1000 scholarship renewed from year to year.

Name:  Byron & Lisa Ophus Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to an incoming freshman who are graduates of Winifred High School, Scobey High School, or Big Sandy High School with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Name: Chancellor's Scholarship
Criteria: Awarded to students with the highest GPA and ACT/SAT scores. Recipients must have graduated from a Montana High School.

Name: Clarence “Fritz” Keller Memorial Scholarship
Criteria: Recipient must be a Havre High School graduate entering their freshman (first) year at Northern.

Name: Clara Katzowitz Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to a student at MSU-Northern.


Name:  Class of 1941 Alumni Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Preference is given to a relative of the Class of 1941, followed by any alumni relative.  Incoming and/or continuing students are eligible.  Must be a full-time student and complete separate application.


Name: Edwin D. Wagner Scholarship
Criteria: Scholarship should be used for recruiting new students into 4-year degrees at MSUN. 

Name: Eldora McBride Endowed Scholarship
Criteria: Awarded to a Montana resident and graduate from a Montana high school with a 2.5 GPA.  Preference given to Helena graduates.  Can be renewed for up to 3 additional years. Must fill out the application. Awarded every 4 years.

Name:  Havre Lions Club Freshman Scholarship
Criteria:  Scholarship will be awarded to an incoming student from the surrounding area with preference given to North Star Public School, turner, Dodson, Malta, Chinook, Havre, Box Elder, Rocky Boy, Big Sandy and Chester-Joplin-Inverness Public Schools.  Candidates must demonstrate community service activities such as volunteer work and/or service club membership.  Must fill out application.

Name: Independence Bank Scholarship
Criteria:  Must have graduated from a high school in one of these counties; Hill, Phillips, Valley, Roosevelt, Daniels, Blaine, Liberty, Pondera, Toole, Sheridan, and Chouteau. Bank employees and family are not eligible. The recipients must agree to provide a short bio and appear in a promotional photograph with Independence Bank representatives and must agree in writing to have their name and photograph to be utilized in printed, written, spoken or electronic formats for promotional purposes. Must maintain a 2.5 GPA. 

Name:  Jabez Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Applicants must be from a Class "C" Montana High School with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference to students who graduated from either Roberts High School or Reed Point High School. 

Name: June & Richard Lemke Scholarship Fund
Criteria: Must intend to be a full-time student. Must have maintained at least an overall GPA of 2.5 in the year of school of academic work immediately preceding the award and must be of good moral character.

Name: Katherine Morningstar Non-Traditional Scholarship
Criteria:  Applicant must be a Montana high school graduate. Preference to Madison County graduates. Complete 12 credits per semester with 2.5 GPA or better.  Student must have graduated at least one year prior to enrolling at Northern.

Name: Katherine Morningstar Traditional Scholarship
Criteria:  Montana high school graduate. Preference to Madison County graduates. Complete 12 credits per semester with 3.0 GPA or better.

Name:  Len and Hazel Gearheart Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  One scholarship has a preference for a Native American student from a Montana Nation, and one scholarship is open to any student who is a resident from Montana.  Must complete application.

Name: Michael P. Callahan Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to a full-time freshman or new transfer student with a minimum GPA of 2.00, in any discipline, who participated in Varsity High School Athletics. 

Name: Mildred and Charles Keene Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Two scholarships shall be for an incoming freshman from Havre High School or a school within Hill County intending to major in nursing, teacher education, or a 4-year technology area at MSU-N.  The student shall receive this scholarship for his/her freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years of study at MSU-N and maintain a minimum of 2.20 GPA.  

Name: MSU-Northern Foundation Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to an entering Freshman (first year student).

Name: Pryde G. Skinner Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  One scholarship to be awarded to a female and one to a male.  Must demonstrate good character and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.

Name:  Pugh Fort Benton Freshman Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Fort Benton High School graduate with 2.5 GPA and enrolled full time at MSUN as a freshman.  

Name: Ron Smith Memorial Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to an incoming freshman from the Hi-Line with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Name: Sedlacek Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship
Criteria:  Recipient must be a high school graduate from the “Hi-Line” of Montana which includes any towns along MT US Highway 2 from Browning, Montana to Culbertson, Montana.

Name: We Love MSU-Northern Scholarship
Criteria:  Awarded to any student attending Montana State University-Northern with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher. The scholarships will be awarded to degree seeking students in any major area.
