Montana State University-Northern head women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Taylor Keller to join the Skylight program next fall.

Mouat said, “We are thrilled that Taylor has chosen to continue her athletic and academic careers at MSU-Northern.  She is a quality student-athlete and all along we have felt like she is one of the best point guards in the state.”

Keller, a 5’6” guard from Custer, is a four-year starter while playing for her father, Jeff.  She was a two-time All-State selection and was a four-time All-Conference pick.  This season, she averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists while helping Custer to a State Class C Tournament berth.  At the State C Tournament, Keller played with a torn meniscus and earned All-Tournament honors.  She also played in Malta’s HIT Tournament two weeks after arthroscopic surgery.  At the HIT, she was selected to the All-Tournament team and won the 3-point contest.  Most recently, she was named to the Great Falls Super State Team as one of the top ten players in Montana.

Mouat said, “Taylor has been well-coached and she brings a pretty complete package to our program.  She has the ability to hurt you in a number of ways offensively, and is very sound at the defensive end of the floor.  She is a skilled handler and passer, and she shoots the ball very well from the perimeter.  She is someone we look at as having the potential to be a difference-maker in our program for four years.”

This season, Keller shot 45% from the field and 39% from the three-point line.  She shot nearly 75% from the free throw line and set the career mark for free throw percentage at Custer High School.  But, according to Mouat, the intangible things are what set her apart.

“One of the biggest things I liked about Taylor is her toughness,” he said.  “She is an outstanding competitor and will do what it takes to win.  I was able to watch her play at the State Tournament this year and was extremely impressed.  She played really well despite being in a lot of pain.”

Keller is the daughter of Jeff and Corinna Keller.  She carries a 3.5 Grade Point Average and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Lindsay Hartley

Montana State University-Northern head women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Lindsay Hartley to play for the Skylights next fall.

Hartley, a 5’8” guard from Brooks, Alberta, was a three-year starter for Brooks Composite High School.  This season, she scored averaged 21.5 points (817 total points), 9.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game for the Lady Buffalos.  Brooks finished with an overall record of 34-4 and won Alberta’s 3A Provincial Tournament championship (3A high schools in Alberta maintain an enrollment of 300-800 students). Their only losses of the season were to 4A schools, the highest classification in Canada.  Hartley was also named the Most Valuable Player of the provincial championship game, an 84-52 win over #2-ranked Kai Nai.  The head coach of the Brooks team was Lindsay’s Father, Jim Hartley.

Mouat said, “Lindsay is a great sign for us.  She brings a very nice shooting touch and perimeter range.  She is capable off of the dribble, and sees the floor very well.”

Hartley shot 45% from the field this season and 77% from the foul line.  She also shot 41% from the 3-point line while connecting on 97 attempts.

“Offensively, Lindsay is already fairly polished.  She has the ability to knock down the open three-point shot and can finish taking it to the basket.  What really stood out about her when we watched her in person and on tape is her perimeter range.  She is comfortable shooting the basketball well beyond the three-point line.”

Canadian high school basketball teams play with a 20-foot, 6-inch three point line as compared to the 19-foot, 9-inch line used in United States high school basketball.

Mouat continued, “Lindsay is a quality student-athlete and great addition to our program.  We feel very fortunate that she chose to continue her academic and athletic career at MSU-Northern and in a Skylight uniform.”

Hartley carries a 4.0 grade point average and is the daughter of Jim and Colleen Hartley.

Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Kaylee Shaw to play for the Skylights next fall.  Shaw is transferring from Carroll College where she played two seasons and redshirted one.

Shaw, a 5’6” guard, is a Fort Benton native and former three-time All-Conference and two-time All-State selection.  During her senior season at Fort Benton, she averaged 15 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds per game.  She also excelled on the track, placing 3rd at the State C meet her senior year in the long jump.

Mouat said, “We are very excited about the addition of Kaylee Shaw to the MSU-Northern women’s basketball program.  She can help us at a couple of positions and is a great competitor.”

At Carroll, Shaw played in 19 games as a true freshman before suffering a season-ending knee injury.  She saw action in 18 games this season and scored a season-high 15 points in a 91-75 win over the University of Regina.

Mouat continued, “Kaylee brings a solid offensive presence off of the dribble.  She penetrates and finishes well and is very strong with the basketball.  At the defensive end, I really like her toughness.  She is strong and physical and loves to compete.”

Shaw plans to major in Secondary Education at MSU-Northern.  She is the daughter of Kevin and Karen Shaw.

Jordan Kambich

Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Jordan Kambich to join the Skylight program next fall.  Kambich is a 2005 graduate of Butte Central High School, where she earned All-State honors as a senior and was a two-time All-Conference selection.  She will have three years of eligibility remaining after playing her freshman season at Montana Tech in 2005-2006.

A 5’8” guard, Kambich scored over 900 points in her career at Butte Central.  During her senior season, she averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists per game in helping the Maroons to their best finish in 20 years.  She was also an All-State selection at catcher for the Butte Central softball team.

According to Mouat, “Jordan is a hard-nosed player who has been away from the game for a year.  She has a lot of passion for basketball and is really hungry to get back into it.  She is also someone I’ve known for a long time and have had the chance to watch compete at a number of levels.  She will bring a lot of competitiveness and energy to our program right away.”

Kambich maintains a 3.6 Grade Point Average and she plans to major in biology at MSU-Northern.  She is the daughter of Jim and Peggy Kambich.

Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Stacie Little to join the Skylight program next fall.

Little, a 6’3” post player, recently completed a two-year career at the College of Eastern Utah in Price, Utah.  Prior to playing at Eastern Utah, Little red-shirted for one season at NCAA Division I Southern Utah University.

Mouat said, “We are very excited about Stacie.  She brings an immediate defensive presence in the post to our program.  She has great timing and is a natural shot-blocker.”

This season, Little averaged 7 points and 9 rebounds per game.  She also amassed 122 total blocked shots, good for an average of 3.8 per game.  She finished the season as the leading rebounder and shot blocker in Region 18.

Little set an all-time single game record at Eastern Utah with 13 blocked shots in a win over the College of Southern Idaho.  As a freshman, she earned All-League honorable mention honors in Region 18.  This season, she was a 2nd team All-League pick.

According to Mouat, Little is also very capable at the offensive end.

“Stacie has improved her offensive game over the past couple of seasons and we really feel like she’ll do well in our system.  She has good hands and is very solid on the offensive boards.”

Little is a 2004 graduate of Cottonwood High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she earned honorable mention All-State honors as a junior and was a 2nd team selection as a senior.  During her senior year at Cottonwood, Little was also named the Defensive MVP of her region.

Mouat said, “It was vital for us to address the post positions in our recruiting this year, and I feel like we’ve taken a big step with the addition of Stacie.”

Danielle Trower

Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced that Danielle Trower has signed to play for the Skylights next fall.

Mouat said, “Danielle is a great addition to our program and university.  She is a quality student-athlete and we believe she has a very bright future at MSU-Northern.”

Trower, a 6’0” forward, helped lead Circle to their first-ever Class C State Tournament title this winter.  This season, she averaged 16 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 4.4 steals per game for the Wildcats.  She shot 44% from the field and nearly 70% from the free throw line.

According to Mouat, “What we really liked about Danielle is that she does a little bit of everything.  She has a well-rounded game.  She can score with her back to the basket, she rebounds very well, and she plays hard on the defensive end.  Just as importantly, she is a very good passer with good court vision from the post position.”

During the course of her career, Trower was a three-time All-Conference and All-State selection.  She also made the State Class C All-Tournament team three times.

Mouat continued, “Danielle is a quality student-athlete.  She excels in the classroom and is a proven winner on the court.  She is a great addition to our program.”

Trower excelled in volleyball as well, where she was also a two-time All-State selection.  She received Academic All-State recognition four times in both basketball and volleyball.

In the classroom, Trower maintains a 3.95 GPA.  She was a four-year member of the National Honor Society and served as the president her senior year.  She was also selected for the District 11 Honor Choir and participated in the state Music Festival.  She is the daughter of Donald and Julie Trower.

Montana State University-Northern women’s basketball coach Chris Mouat has announced the signing of Jennie Lee to join the Skylight program this fall.  Lee, a 5’11” post player, recently completed a two-year career at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

“Jennie is a strong addition to our program,” Mouat said.  “She is a physical post player with good skills and a strong passion for the game.  After two solid seasons at Western Wyoming, we are confident that she will give us immediate help in the post.”

This season, Lee was a Second Team All-Conference selection in the Wyoming Conference.  She was also an Academic All-Conference and All-Region selection.

Lee is a 2005 graduate of Borah High School in Boise, Idaho.  As a senior, she earned Second Team All-Conference honors in the Southern Idaho Conference and helped lead  Borah to a District Championship.  She currently holds the Borah High School record for rebounds in a game with 18.

Mouat said, “We are excited about what Jennie can bring to the program and are looking forward to her progress over the next two seasons.”

Lee plans to major in secondary education at MSU-Northern.  She is the daughter of John and Jan Lee.
