MSU-N gets three on Frontier’s All-Conference list

With the conference tournaments in the books, the Frontier Conference released both the men’s and women’s All-Conference teams, and Montana State University-Northern was represented with three players making the lists.
On the
women’s side, MSU-N senior DeLayne Johnston earned First-Team All-Conference
honors for the second straight season.

As expected, UM-Western senior Kathrine Sunwall was named the league MVP as well as being named Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Sunwall leads the NAIA in blocked shots this year.
Montana Tech’s Jessie Depell and Carroll College’s Elly Bruursema were named Co-Freshman of the Year, and Tech’s Rebecca Gimeno was tabbed the league’s Newcomer of the Year. LC State head coach Brian Orr was named Coach of the Year.
On the men’s side, MSU-N junior transfer Delvaughn Tinned earned first-team honors after he finished third in the league in scoring. Tinned averaged almost 17 points per game in his first season at MSU-N and was among the league leaders in 3-point shooting.
League regular season and tournament champion LC State ran away with most of the postseason awards. LC State junior Mike Gordy and senior Teran Lee shared Player of the Year honors, and Lee was also named the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Napolean Gordon, a freshman point guard for the Warriors ran away with the Freshman of the Year voting and Warriors head coach Tim Walker
was named Coach of the Year.
