MSU-Northern wrestling coach David Ray continues to add recruits for the upcoming season.

Ray has signed a pair of out-of-state recruits to NAIA national letters of intent.

Joining the Lights will be 3-time Idaho State champion Ryan Price of Sugar-Salem High School.

Price (6’1”, 205) competed just three years in high school wrestling and racked a 116-11 record.  After not attending school last year, Price is ready to resume his wrestling career at Northern.  Ray sees Price competing at 184 initially, before moving up to 197.

“Northern is very fortunate to have someone of Ryan’s athletic ability come to Havre,” Ray said.  “He will definitely challenge for a varsity position on the team next year.  He has a great attitude and possesses a mat awareness that is difficult to teach.”

Price is also a solid student, carrying a 3.45 GPA, but has not decided on a college major.

Also joining the Lights is Jake Walter from Omak, WA.

A 3-sport athlete for Omak, Walter was a 1st team all-conference tailback and a two-time state placer in wrestling, winning the title at 171 pounds this past season.

“Jake is a natural athlete who hasn’t had the experience that most wrestlers get by the time they are seniors,” Ray said.  “For only starting wrestling in 8th grade, he has done very well.”

Ray isn’t sure where Walter will wrestle at, most likely 165 at the beginning and 174 in the future.

“Jake is one of the athletes that has the determination to excel and the best,” he said.  “He will make some great contributions to the Northern wrestling program.”
