What is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite on place campus would have to be the little theatre in Cowan Hall. I am involved with Montana Actors Theatre and I have some of the best memories in that theatre. You meet the best people there and whether I am involved with a show or just going to watch one, I always have a great time and leave that place with smile on my face.
What is your favorite place in Havre?
Having lived in Havre for pretty much my whole life, I am sure that my favorite place has switched up quite a few times. At the moment I would have to say it is The Press up at Holiday Village Mall. It’s a nice little Christian bookstore with a great coffee bar and they even have a little lounge area that works great for catching up with a friend over coffee, or even to study.
If you were able to relive your freshman year, what advice would you give yourself?
If I could give my freshman self some advice, I would tell her to be more outgoing when it came to meeting people. I spent my whole first year and a half sticking with friends that I already had, not bothering to even try and make new ones. It wasn’t until right before I left for a semester to Billings that I finally let go and started making new friends. It was a great realization when I figured out you can still have your old friends while making a ton of new ones.
What has been your favorite class and why?
One of my favorite classes that I have taken at Northern would have to be Introduction to Psychology. I took it as one of my elective classes and ended up really enjoying it. We had so many engaging class discussions that everyone joined in and you couldn’t help but pay attention the whole time. This made the homework and papers that we had to do that much easier because the teacher did such a great job at making the class interactive and fun.
If you could live at any other time in history when would it be and why?
If I could live at any other time in history it would have to be in the 1930s and 1940s. Mainly because my favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz, came out in 1939 and I would have loved to have been there for the premiere. I also love the music from those decades and at the same time think it would be pretty sweet to watch my grandparents’ love story unfold.
Why did you decide Northern?
Honestly, the first reason I chose Northern was because it was close to home and cheaper than taking off to another college when I had no clue what I even wanted to do for school. After attending Northern for two years and then transferring to another school for a semester, I realize there is much more of a reason why I like it here. The biggest part of it would have to be the friendliness of this campus and the family feel that it has. I like being able to walk around campus and say hi to someone that I have never talked to before and have a friendly interaction. It makes getting involved so much easier and school that much more enjoyable.
