Northern's new mascots, Aurora and Boris (tame polar bears from Alaska) made their debut on the Northern campus during the half time of the football game against Eastern Oregon. They were also in the Festival Days parade and at the football game against Carroll College. This is the culmination of a process that started a year ago when Student Senate went to the student body and got suggestions for a mascot those suggestions were voted on by the students and the polar bear was the clear winner. Student Senate President, Kristiny Lorett commented, "I am very pleased that we were able to establish a mascot this year."
