There are several new people at Northern this fall. This list is not an exhaustive list of every new position but rather is just a list of the new faculty and key administrative positions (in alphabetical order by last name).
Daniel Boyer has been hired as the project coordinator for the new Carpentry Technology program at Northern, and will also be teaching some courses in the program. Boyer earned a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Sheet Metal Worker, Journeyman from the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota, and is anticipating a Fall 2007 graduation date for his BSEd in Industrial Technology from Northern.
Deanna Curtiss-Deming begins this fall as a temporary instructor of Nursing at Northern. She is a graduate of MSUN's nursing program and is has just earned her Master of Science in Nursing through the University of Alabama. For the past four years, Curtiss-Deming has been a Clinical Resource Registered Nurse for MSUN.
Kathy Jaynes is Northern's new Human Resource Director. Jaynes has her bachelor's and master's degrees in anthropology from Texas Tech University and comes to Northern with over 15 years experience in management level positions including Human Resources Director, Supervisor, Administrator and Fundraiser.
Robert Kittson begins this fall as a temporary instructor of Industrial Technology at Northern. Kittson is a recent graduate of MSUN's Industrial Technology Secondary Education program.
Dr. Jim Longin is Northern's new Dean of the College of Education, Arts & Sciences and Nursing, he has his doctorate from the University of Wyoming in educational leadership. His master's degree is from the University on Montana in education administration and his Bachelors of Arts degree is in history, english and education from Carroll College, he brings a wide range of experience including Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Elementary Principal, Teacher, Counselor and College Instructor. |

Trygve Magelssen began this fall as an Assistant Professor of Electronics Technology at Northern. He is a graduate of MSUN's Electronics Engineering program and earned a Master of Science degree in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota.
Dr. John O'Connor is coming to Northern to be an Associate Professor in Health and Physical Ed. O'Connor has a Doctorate of Philosophy in Kinesiology from Texas Woman's University in Denton Texas a Master of Science in Physical Education from Louisiana Tech University and Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education Louisiana State University.
Vonnie Pattison is joining the Northern faculty as a part time temporary Assistant Professor of Nursing. She earned an LPN degree from the University of North Dakota, an ASN from Regents College in New York, her BSN from MSU-Northern, and recently earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix. Pattison brings over 22 years of nursing care experience to the Northern nursing program.
Dr. Jaakko Puisto, new Assistant Professor of History and Native American Studies, earned his degree in General History from the University of Turku, Finland. He also earned a Master of Arts and Ph.D. in history from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Puisto comes to us from California State University Stanislaus where he spent five years as a full time visiting lecturer.
Greg Ryan is the new Head Women's Volleyball Coach. Ryan has a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calgary and also a Master's Degree in Kinesiology (The art and science of Coaching) from the University of Calgary. Ryan has been the Head Men's Volleyball coach for the University of Calgary Dinos for 21 years. He received numerous awards including the CWUAA "Coach of the Year" five times. |
