The
Northern Alumni Association is proud to spotlight Jenny Small (ASN
grad of '96 and BSN grad of '97) and Cory Sangrey (CIS grad of
'97) for carrying the Olympic Torch. The journey started over a year ago when Cory nominated her cousin and best friend Jenny to be a torchbearer. Her nomination was one of over 200,000 submitted for the prestigious 11,522 spots. Each nominee was evaluated by how well they represented the Olympic spirit. The committee was so moved by Cory's inspiring letter that they asked her to also run and to hand off the torch to her cousin Jenny. They
each carried the torch 2 tenths of mile on January 28 in Big Timber, Montana.
The Olympic flame was brought from Greece to Atlanta, Georgia where it
traveled 13,500 miles through 46 states to reside at the Salt Lake Games.
The close friendship and commitment to excellence that these Alums showed
is characteristic of most Northern Alums. Way to carry the torch! |
