The
well-disciplined, fast-paced, exciting Lights Basketball team is
filling up the MSU-Northern gym once again. Large crowds come to watch
the 14-9 Lights fight for respect in the conference and in the nation;
this year's squad has been ranked time and again among the top twenty
This newly formed team only has two returnee's from last year's squad. Growing pains are still apparent at times with nervous play and slow starts, but when Chester native Jeff Graham starts to catch fire from the three-point-range, and 5' 10" guard Jermaine Walton blazes through the lane to throw down a slam-dunk over his 6'8" opponents, the momentum begins to swing over to the Lights' side. Watch out for the Lights as they grow and peak headed for the Frontier Conference tournament at Butte on February 28th, March 1st and 2nd. This very
talented team is leading the Frontier Conference in free-throw percentage,
shooting 73.5% at the line. Walton, a senior transfer from MSU-Bozeman,
is leading the team in scoring with a 15.4 total points per-game average,
while also leading the team in assists with 146. He broke the MSU-Northern
assist record earlier this season dishing out 17 assists in one game!
Senior post Josh Hays is shooting an incredible 71.6% from the
field, while talented Hi-Line freshmen, Jeff Graham from Chester, is leading
the Lights in 3-point percentage and freethrow percentage, shooting 45.8%
from out in the country, and 86.4% from the line |
