Dear alums and friends:
Summer 2007

Greetings from Northern! Thank you for your support for MSU-Northern. Your involvement is so important for our students. This is brought home to me every year when I attend the Founders' Excellence Awards. Over the years, alums have been recognized for their contributions to Northern, to their community, to our nation and to the world as their lives have changed our world as we know it. Whether they worked for NASA on the first moon landing, worked for the FBI tracking down criminals, founded a clinic that performed the first successful hand transplant in the USA, or developed the Intel chip, our alums have done and are doing amazing and important things. They are the bedrock of their communities, whether they care for the sick, teach the children, keep the "machines" operating and our environment clean. Northern has been, and will be, a springboard for our students to make a positive difference in this world, because of the support we receive from the legislature and the State of Montana, the community of Havre and the HiLine, and people like you.

Many things have been accomplished on campus including the completion of the new courtyard (see photo on cover page). Planning money has been approved by the legislature for the renovation and new construction of the automotive building. All of this enhances the education and life of students in their time on campus. There is no such thing as status quo on a campus as change is all around us. Your support is as important as it has ever been whether it is financial, personal involvement, or simply your fond memories.

We are gearing up for a busy fall, with weekends filling up with alumni and campus activities nearly every weekend. Please check out the Homecoming Week dates October 1-6 and plan to attend, if you can. We will have the Hall of Fame inductions and Alumni Games the same weekend, so if you can only make one trip back, this is one to consider. We will have an alumni function with the details to be posted on our webpage and announced later. Let us know what you would consider attending that weekend (or any other weekend on campus).

Your Association Board of Directors are a hard working, committed group who have chosen to become involved to make a difference for Northern students. They plan and carry out the work of the Association and without them, this alumni newsletter, the fifteen scholarships, and the activities we host each year, would not happen. If you know them, please thank them.

In conclusion, we will be calling on our alums this fall and again, after the first of the year for our 2007-08 annual phonathon. We will again provide an opportunity for you to send a donation, prior to the start of the calls. Thank you for your loyalty and support of our efforts on behalf of MSU-Northern and her students.
