After thirty years, Gail Reynolds will be retiring this fall. She has served students at Northern as the Director of the Career Center, beginning her career as an instructor in the Department of Business in 1977 where she supervised Co-op students in the fledgling program. That same year, Dr. Ken Blair and Nancy Vanderpool wrote Northern's first successful Department of Education Title VIII grant. After that Gail wrote that grant and many other successful grants for her department totally over 1.7 million dollars. In 1987 she was named the Director of the Career Center which combined Cooperative Education, graduate placement, and student employment programs under one roof and one director for the first time.
The Career Center has flourished under her direction and has grown from very modest beginnings to a grogram that places over 100 students each year both in and out of the State of Montana. The on campus recruiting program reached an all time high this year with over 30 employers visiting our campus and interviewing students. During her tenure, the graduate placement rate has always been over 90% and the student employment program serves 350 students across campus each year. Gail is a caring, committed professional who brings this |

to every aspect of her work whether she is working with students, staff, administration or other colleagues. Students know that she sincerely cares about their success and that she will utilize all her resources to help them achieve their goals. Her ability to forge bonds in every department and office has been critical to the ongoing success of the Career Center and the students she serves.
Well known and respected on campus, throughout the State of Montana by colleagues in Co-op and Career Services, and by the many employers and Co-op contacts across the country, she has developed many successful relationships with alums and their employers over the last 30 years. Gail has been instrumental in fostering the loyalty of alums, who in turn have been able to help us obtain equipment, technical support, scholarships and financial donations to meet the needs of our students. Gail Reynolds has served Northern during the terms of seven out of our ten Presidents and many more Academic Vice Presidents and Deans. Terry Lilletvedt and Jennifer Henderson work with her and said, "her wisdom and guidance have been a constant for students in her 30 years with Northern and will be deeply missed by everyone who has had the opportunity to work with her." |
