Campus Update
Summer 2007

Courtyard construction   Courtyard construction
The above photos were taken during the construction phase of new campus courtyard. The courtyard was funded by state and federal handicap access funds. It made the campus more wheelchair accessible and removed the hazard of having a road in front of Hagener Science Center. The parking was replaced with a parking lot north of Hagener and a road that runs behind Hagener. Now students can walk to class without the fear of getting hit by a car.

James H.M. Erickson   Dr. James H.M. Erickson, former NMC President, visited Northern as part of a nation wide trip he is conducting to see many of his friends as possible. He was Northern's fifth president and served from 1978 to 1985. During that time two major buildings were built, the Vande Bogart Library and the Farm Mechanics Building. Also, during Dr. Erickson's tenure, the Northern tradition of awarding Student Excellence Awards to students began in 1982. Thank you Dr. Erickson.

Jim and Ginny Heberly at the We Love Northern Ball   Jim and Ginny dance the night away at the "We Love Northern Ball". This is the first year Northern hosted the event. We made over $24,000 and have a lot of ideas for next year. One of the big successes to the event was the specialty baskets that were made by the various departments on campus.

The MSU-Northern nursing students got together to plant a tree in the campus courtyard in memory of Patricia "Patti" Fisher a nursing student who passed away. Her family received her nursing pin during the Nurses Pinning Ceremony.   Memorial Tree Planting
