Chancellor Alex Capdeville announce that Dr. Joe Callahan has been approved by the Board of Regents as Interim Provost and Senior Vice Chancellor at MSU-Northern. He replaces Dr. Cheri Jimeno who left Northern to become the new Campus Executive Officer for New Mexico State University Alamogordo.

Dr. Joe Callahan came to campus on March 29 and met with the various groups on campus and conducted open forums with our Havre, Great Falls an Lewistown campuses. The comments back from those meetings were in full support of offering Dr. Callahan the job.

Dr. Callahan has a Doctorate in Education from the University of Montana and his master's and bachelor's degrees from East Stroudsburg University (PA). He has been at Dickinson State University since 1986 and has filled several roles which include professor, dean and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Before that position he spent nine years at MSU-Northern as the Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies and Dean of Continuing Education.

Chancellor Alex Capdeville commented, "We are very fortunate to have a person of Dr. Callahan's credentials and understanding of Northern to be willing to move back to Havre to assume this interim position." Capdeville continued, "Dr. Callahan wants to get back into administration and this interim position makes it possible for him to check out the situation and make sure it is a good fit for everyone before any long term commitments are made. I am very confident that Dr. Callahan will do an excellent job in this position."
