MSU-Northern is accredited with the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Campuses that are accredited through the NWCCU are thoroughly reviewed every ten years to determine if they still meet the standards required by Northwest. The last time the Commission was on campus was the fall of 2002 when they conducted a routine interim visit. This is a lengthy process that requires the campus to conduct a self study and to host an evaluation team from Northwest. The campus is completing its self study and is scheduled to host a campus visit on October 14-16.

The Commission would like to invite public comment about MSU-Northern's accreditation status. All comments must be submitted in writing and signed. All written third party comments received by the Commission will receive an acknowledgement letter. Copies of the written comments will be given to the evaluation team and MSU-Northern. MSU-Northern will have the opportunity to respond to the comments.
