An articulation agreement for the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education was signed between Medicine Hat College, Alberta, Canada and MSU-Northern. This is the first articulation agreement to be signed between the two institutions. The agreement is a culmination of many years of discussion to develop a closer relationship between the two institutions. The articulation agreement allows Canadian students to complete four semesters of lower division coursework at Medicine Hat College and four semesters of upper division coursework at MSU-Northern. Students will also have the opportunity to complete their student teaching experience at a school in Alberta.
"Interim Dean Rawn is the person who deserves most of the credit for making sure this agreement came to fruition," stated Provost Jimeno. "Dean Rawn's follow up with the faculty at Northern and Program Director Craig Hart's follow up with the faculty in Medicine Hat made everything happen. As we further develop our relationship, the future looks bright for expansion of articulation agreements into other programs."
The signing ceremony between the two institutions took place on June 29, 2006 in Havre. MSU-Northern was represented by Drs. Rawn and Jimeno and Dean of Students and Registrar, Steve Jamruszka. Medicine Hat College was represented by Dr. Len Vandervaart, Dean of Arts and Dr. Joyce Engel, Dean of Students. |
