Northern Team Wins the PAS College Bowl at PAS Conference Green Bay, Wis. - Montana State University-Northern won the College Bowl at the 25th Annual PAS conference held in Green Bay, Wis., March 10-13. The College Bowl is designed to test knowledge of agricultural students against the clock. The career program area allows students to develop self-confidence related to knowledge gained through studying at a postsecondary agriculture institution. The College Bowl Program Area is designed to develop self confidence; leadership and management abilities in agriculture/agribusiness and natural resources; encourage cooperation among students in various curricular areas; provide recognition for outstanding scholastic accomplishments of PAS members; encourage cooperation between education and industry; and strengthen the PAS organization by encouraging active participation. Teams are composed of five participants who compete in a series of head to head competitions. They are asked questions about Crops/Soils; Ag Business/Farm Management; Horticulture/Natural Resources; Ag Mechanics; Animal Science; PAS & Current Agricultural Events; and Food Science/Nutrition. Students on the first place team were: Clayton Hofeldt, Brent Peterson, Rylee Strauser, Amber VandenBoss, and Christ Westergard. The second place team was from Northeast Iowa College. Students on that team were: Josh Corcoran, Adam Hinckley, Melissa Klein, Leo Miller and Matt Dutcher. All participants on the first and second teams received a commemorative bowl. |
