| Did you know that there are four Northern alums in the first class of the Leadership Montana program? Leadership Montana is sponsored by the Montana Chamber of Commerce Foundation. Their mission statement reads, "Progress depends on developing a sustainable core of committed leaders who understand these issues, are willing to listen to and learn from each other, celebrate cultural diversity and diverse opinions, and demonstrate a passion for the Last Best Place. Such is the Mission of Leadership Montana."
The four Northern alums are Lyle Hodgskiss, '70, Steve Clawson, '79, Christen Obresley, '87, and Debbie Vandeberg. Lyle is currently employed with Citizen's State Bank residing in Choteau, Montana. Steve is President of Wells Fargo Montana and living in Kalispell,

Montana with his wife Nancy (McNair) '78 and their children. Christen is currently the President of the Northern Alumni Association and is employed by Northern Montana Healthcare and lives in Havre, Montana. Debbie is the Executive Director of the Havre Chamber of Commerce and was involved in developing the Leadership programs for Montana's High School students. She is working on her degree at Northern.
Furthermore, Northern alums have led the way with contributions to the economic development of the state, East Helena resident Ryan Deskins, '00, is the U.S. Small Business Administrations 2004 Montana SBA Young Entrepreneur of the Year. Hathaway Montana resident, Mandi (Luce) Heinle's, '91, business brainchild, Innovative Marketing Solutions, LLC is the 2004 Montana Main Street Business of the Year.
