MSU-Northern's
Director of Student Health and Northern Alum Sue Swan `85,
has been named Montana Nurses' Association Distinguished Nurse of
the Year.
This
award is given annually to recognize a member of the Montana Nurses'
Association for outstanding contributions made to professional nursing.
A candidate for this award must have made exemplary contributions
to the field of nursing, including,

demonstrating
leadership in promoting excellence in nursing, demonstrating
knowledge of current issues, showing awareness and commitment to nursing
ethics, and demonstrating the ability to work well with other members of
a health care team.
Swan
was nominated by Trish Goudie, Dean of the MSU-Northern Nursing
Department and Mary Pappas, Nursing Professor.

Robert
Miller (32 year Northern instructor) has been named by
the Montana Industrial Technology Education Association as the Outstanding
Career and Technical Educator, Teacher of the Year, and Outstanding
New Career and Technical Educator for Montana for 2003.
These
awards are given to career and technical educators who provide significant
contributions to professional associations and
technical education programs in their fields. They must also

contributions toward innovative, unique, and novel programs and improvement,
promotion, research, or development of programs of career and technical
education.
