October
12-15 marked the second annual "Legends for Lights" Pheasant
Jamboree. This fundraising event, hosted by the MSU-Northern Foundation,
spotlights the arrival of 19 N.F.L. legends for 4 days of non-stop
activity.
Events
ran Saturday through Tuesday starting with the MSU-Northern Homecoming
tailgate party & football game. MSU-Northern Alumni games and
Alumni Pig Roast were also scheduled throughout the day on Saturday.
On Sunday, an open trap shoot competition was held at the Trap Club
south of town. This event was a chance for those not involved in
the pheasant hunt competition to team up with an N.F.L. Legend and
enjoy an afternoon of competition and visiting with the Legends.
On Sunday and Monday the Holiday Village Mall hosted an Outdoor/Sportsman
Show featuring area businesses.

The highlight
of the week was the Monday night "Taste of Havre." Local restaurants,
bars and service clubs went head-to-head in a cooking competition. Each
entry created samples of their cooking and over 600 attendants were able
to sample and vote on the best cooking in the various categories. The
first 200 children received free MEL footballs that could be signed by
the Legends.

Some
of the Legends who participated this year were
(back row L to R)
Mike Tilleman, Nick Bebout, George Kuntz, Mick Tingelhoff, Jack Patera,
Don Talbert, Lonnie Warwick
(front L to R)
Wally Hilgenberg, Rick Ogle, Roy Winston and Diron Talbert
