The
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), which
is the national accrediting body for education programs, visited Northern
on October 26-29. This visit was the culmination of two years of preparation,
planning, evaluation, and review. When the team left they reported
that Northern had met all 6 criteria for accreditation. Although we
won't know the FINAL results for several months, the comments and
recommendations from the visiting team could not have been more laudatory. |
Last year Northern submitted its conceptual framework for our education
program. It was so well done that it has become one of the examples
that NCATE uses with other institutions on how to develop a conceptual
framework. Northern salutes Darlene Sellers and our education
faculty for all of their hard work in making this accreditation possible.
We have always felt that our education program was one of the finest
in the country and this NCATE visit proves it. |
