Action at the Auction
Byron Ophus (52) and Shauna Albrecht (20) were tow of the many volunteers that helped colect dollars at teh Alumni scholarhsip Social & Auction. This event is held every year and is a major fundraiser for the 13 alumni scholarships.		   "America, We Love You!" was the theme for the
2002 Northern Alumni Scholarship Social & Auction which was held on October 5th, 2002, at 6:30 p.m. in Donaldson Alumni Commons. The capacity crowd was generous in the spirit of raising dollars for student scholarships as a new all?time high in funds raised was set with $7,776.00 surpassing the previous all?time high set in 1998 with $7,713.00. This will help support 13 Alumni scholarships for two incoming freshmen who are sons or daughters of alums, a continuing student, a non?traditional student, a single parent, a fine arts scholarship and seven scholarships for varsity Montana student-athletes.

In remembrance of the first anniversary of September 11, the committee selected the theme of "America, We Love You" and encouraged everyone in attendance to wear red, white and blue or a patriotic costume. Many hours were spent decorating the Commons and setting up the donations from area businesses, individuals and friends of Northern with several of our neighbors in Big Sandy participating in both the donations and attendance. The campus community was generous in sharing their talents and giving their time to help work the event. The Auction Committee added a Silent Auction to compliment the popular Chinese and Live Auction and it was very well received. The Alumni Association would like to thank Taco John's of Havre and Coca?Cola for donating their products and services to provide a taco and chili feed for the crowd.
