Mike Haugen, a 1979 graduate of NMC is enjoying a rewarding life after complications from hip replacement surgery left him near death only six years ago. Since his recovery, Haugen has returned to Gonzaga Prep where he teaches world history, current world affairs, and math, and coaches basketball. Under his coaching, Haugen's team has placed third in the Greater Spokane League four times and gone on to participate in three regional competitions.  He and his wife Denise, also an NMC graduate, have three children, Krissy, Brett and Carly.
