Alumni Association Awards 16 Scholarships
Summer 2000

MSU-Northern's annual awards and scholarship convocation.  Each year the association awards two Keith Clawson Incoming Freshman Scholarships to sons or daughters of Northern alumni. The scholarships were awarded to Shilo L. Allen and Kyle J. Burgmaier. 

Shilo is a 2000 graduate of Jefferson County High School and daughter of alumnus Matthew, '86 & '98, and Linda Allen of Boulder. She was active in the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America Program (VICA), serving as club treasurer for two years, treasurer of the state VICA her sophomore year, and president her junior and senior years. Shilo will be majoring in elementary education.

Kyle J. Burgmaier is a 2000 grad uate of Power High School and will be majoring in diesel technology at Northern. Kyle's activities include high school athletics, 4-H Leadership Camp, Boy's State, and community service projects including serving as the chairperson for the St. Jude's Children's Hospital Bike-A-Thon throughout high school. He continues a family tradition of attending MSU-Northern. Kyle's mother, Deanna (Bergum), '72, father, John, '70, and sister Shawna, '97, have all graduated from Northern. His sister, Kelsey, currently attends MSU-Northern and is a standout on the Skylight basketball team.

Melissa Kay Terry, of Chinook, Montana, is the recipient of the Keith Clawson Memorial Single Parent Scholarship. Melissa is a business technology major at Northern.

The Keith Clawson Memorial Non-Traditional Scholarship was awarded to Stephanie L. Henderson of Havre. Stephanie is the daughter of Noel, '97, and MSU-Northern employee Jennifer Henderson. She will enroll at MSU-Northern to pursue her associate degree in nursing.

Hillary Toldness, of Havre, Montana, was awarded the Keith Clawson Memorial Continuing Student Scholarship. Hillary is majoring in nursing as did her father Phil, '85.

The Class of 1941 Scholarship has been awarded to Lori Schoonover of Dutton, Montana. Her parents are Jean, '66, and Frank '68, Schoonover, of Dutton. She is majoring in elementary education with a health and physical education minor.

The fine arts scholarship was presented to Tiffany Lowder of Cut Bank, Montana. The Northern Alumni Association athletic scholarships were awarded to Derek Renee, Billings, men's basketball; Anna Fabatz, Butte, women's basketball; Kino Detrick, Great Falls, football; Shanda Lammerding, Havre, golf; Jamee Clark, Havre, rodeo; Lexy Ranes and Janelle Gillies, Havre, and Alicia Hopstad, Glasgow, volleyball; and Dustyn Azure, Wolf Point, wrestling.
