| On Friday, May 5th MSU-Northern
honored three alumni Edith Scheid, George Staudacher, and Robert
Bricker during its annual Founder's Day Celebration. Each year alumni,
friends and faculty set aside this special time to reflect upon MSU-Northern's
heritage by honoring and recognizing those individuals who promote the
ideals of service and excellence that are an integral part of Northern's
growth and development. A dinner in their honor was held at 7:00 p.m. in
the Student Union Building on the Montana State UniversityNorthern campus.
Edith Philips Scheid
of Lewistown, was born in Hamilton, MT. She graduated from Northern Montana
College in 1941 with a diploma in Business Administration. As a member
of one of the largest graduating classes before WWII, Scheid's persistent
efforts have kept the class informed and involved in Northern's mission.
Edith helped organize the Class of '41 Scholarship and serves on the selection
committee. She is the originator and moving-force for the Class of '41
Newsletter, which she edits and publishes. She also appeared in Who's Who
of American Women 11 th edition and had a poem published in National Library
of Poetry "Beyond the Stars".
George E. Staudacher
of Grass Valley, CA, was born in Chester, MT. He graduated from Northern
Montana College in 1957 with an Associate of Science Degree in Electronic
Engineering. While working for Fairchild Semiconductor he was active in
applications engineering and later product engineering for Digital Integrated
Circuits. In 1970, with Intel, he performed the initial test and debug
on the first DRAM, the Intel 1103 and in 1971 performed the first test
and debug of the world's first microprocessor the Intel 4004. Later his
concentration was on microcircuits and high volume production. Since 1985,
George has held the patent for the Automatic Wafer Prober with Programmable
Test Interface.
Robert (Bob) T. Bricker
of Havre, was born in Lewistown, MT, and graduated from Moore High School
in 1964. In 1970 he graduated from Northern Montana College with a Bachelor
of Science in Vocational Education majoring in Drafting. He then went to
work for Hill County Electric/Triangle Telephone until 1979. Bob worked
for Duty Construction until 1987 when he started his own business, Independent
Inspection Company, which provides wood pole inspection, utility inventories,
Global Positioning System (GPS) and computer aided mapping and drafting
services. In August 1994, Bob was awarded first place in the GPS World
Applications Contest and was published by GPS World Magazine in January
1995 for his innovative use of GPS systems.
