Revenues Rise
Summer
2000
Four new grants were recently
awarded to MSU-Northern due to the efforts of faculty and staff members.
Jonathon
Richter and Curtis Smeby
wrote a grant for Preparing Tomorrow's Teachers for Technology. The award
is $219,000 for the first year. Greg Jergeson
and Suzanne Tilleman were successful
in securing $65,000 from the Montana Legislature for the Montana Cooperative
Development Center. Dr. Carol Green
and Faye Red Fox secured an incentive
grant designed to serve international students attending MSUN. The purpose
of the grant is to provide opportunities for international students at
MSUN to learn and interact with the Indian tribes in north central Montana.
The U.S. Department of Labor's state director notified
Luke
Petriccione that Northern has been awarded a $150,000 oneyear
grant to train Native American veterans. This grant will serve 35 unemployed
veterans and proposes a statewide partnership with the Midwest Assistance
Program to train water quality technicians on and off the reservation.
