Ag Students Fare Well at National Competition
Summer 2000

Winifred's Perry Johnston and Abby Ehlert placed first in the crop specialist competition. Johnston was the high highest scoring individual in the event. Ehlert also placed second in the agribusiness sales and service employment interview competition. Cindy Vukasin of Havre placed first in two events, agribusiness employment interview and career planning in agricultural management and marketing. Montana State University-Northern's team of Thor Loftsgard from Peerless, Ami Verploegen of Havre and Brian Phips of Jordan, Montana placed third in the Livestock Specialist competition. A fourth place finish in the College Bowl competition was earned by the team of Loftsgard, Verploegen, Phips, Johnston, and Mike Luibrand from Corvallis Montana. Luibrand also placed 4th in the dairy production category of career planning, and fifth in the dairy production employment interview competition. Rounding out the top finishers for MSU-Northern was Traci Kirby from Brady Montana who placed fifth in the agriculture education, communication and extension career planning competition. Kirby also finished tenth in the livestock production competition of employment interview.
