Attention all 70's alums!
Major Blast from the Past!
Spring 2001

Dig out the bell-bottom jeans, polyester shirts, and leisure suits - dust off the Three Dog Night albums! It's time to celebrate the 1970's at Northern Montana College!

Last October, a number of 70's graduates (including myself attended an Alumni Board of Director's meeting prior to the homecoming festivities. We proposed holding a '70's reunion in conjunction with the 2001 homecoming celebration, which will be held October 20th, 2001. The Board embraced the idea and preliminary planning for the reunion has begun in earnest.

The Board of Directors came up with a tentative schedule of events: Friday afternoon: Golf tournament at the Beaver Creek Golf Course now owned by Max Erickson, Class of '70. Friday evening. Registration at Beaver Creek Golf Course, followed by dinner and dancing. Saturday morning (approx 10:00): Continental breakfast at Donaldson Commons, followed by address by Chancellor Capdeville, Class of '74. Tailgate party at 11:30 (behind Armory Gym) Homecoming football game at 1:00 (Blue Pony Stadium) Pig Roast at Donaldson Commons (approx 5:00) Following Pig Roast - opportunity for various groups to gather at different locations around town. Sunday morning: No-host breakfast at location to be determined

The homecoming weekend has been scheduled for October 19-21, 2001. 1 strongly urge all who attended Northern in the fantastic 1970's to make plans to attend

Volunteers to help with planning and coordination of the reunion are needed! It would be great to see former members of organizations such as Spurs, Tau Kappa, Circle K, concert band and choir, NOMOCO staff, etc., get involved We of the 70's era were extremely active - it would be great to come together and remember the exciting things we did. After all, who can forget the REO Speedwagon, Charlie Daniels Band and Styx concerts; the Spring Fling of 1976; Parent's Day; touring with the concert band and choir, painting the Welcome Sidewalk; drinking endless cups of coffee in the Student Union Building; the NMC/CGF basketball games (especially the bus trip to Great Falls), and NMC Rodeo. So many exciting events that required extraordinary teamwork and effort on the part of all.
