Enrollment
is Up 57 Students
Fall
2001
Dr.
Alex Capdeville, Chancellor of MSU-Northern, explains that there are
a lot of reasons why Northern's enrollment is up. "We are starting to see
the positive impact that football is having on our campus life. We have
increased our TV and radio marketing efforts. We have redesigned our recruiting
and admissions process to be more customer service oriented. We have started
several cohort master's degree programs in Havre, Great Falls, Helena and
Alaska. We have partnerships with the Tribal Colleges to deliver the last
two years of their education degree. This year we had a record number of
faculty and students visiting high schools and we conducted two bus tours
to Northeastern Montana. We have an excellent staff and faculty
| who
worked very hard this year to help our students get the advising and courses
they needed to be successful."
Dr.
Capdeville continued to explain that, "Last year we conducted a feasibility
study which told us that we have to improve our recruiting, our campus
life and our long-term strategic planning. We have stepped up our recruiting
efforts, and are starting to address some of the deferred maintenance issues
on the campus. We are looking into the feasibility of renovating Donaldson
Hall into a state of the art residence hall and we are developing a long-term
strategic plan. I am committed to improving campus life on the Havre campus.
I believe that we have to expand our distance delivery methods but those
efforts cannot be at the expense of a strong Havre campus." |

Northern
had its first ever F.T.E. party to celebrate its enrollment increase. The
party featured Food, Toasts, and Entertainment or F.T.E. for short. For
the Food they had beverages and snacks, and offered a series of Toasts
to people who have worked very hard to help get their enrollment up. For
the Entertainment local entertainer Kirt Miller help liven up the atmosphere.
