1004.3 Security and Safety-Fire
Effective: July 1, 1980

• Fire drills shall be conducted in all academic buildings periodically during the year. Times and dates to be set by City of Havre Fire Marshall.
• If a fire alarm sounds, the building shall be evacuated immediately. Instructions on proper routes for evacuation shall be posted in buildings. Investigation of possible fire locations in the building shall be made by Physical Plant staff or members of City of Havre Fire Department.

Procedures

Reporting Fire in Buildings on campus.

• A person in every building shall be designated to report the possible fire to the Montana State University-Northern campus switchboard operator immediately when the local (building) fire alarm sounds. As "backup", a second person shall be designated to report the alarm to the campus switchboard operator when the designated first person is out of the building.
• The campus switchboard operator shall immediately report the alarm to the City of Havre Fire Department giving name and location of building where local fire alarm has sounded. After reporting the fire alarm to the City of Havre Fire Department, the campus switchboard operator shall notify the Physical Plant staff of the fire alarm. (In reporting the fire to the Physical Plant, the campus switchboard operator shall "interrupt" phone call in case the Physical Plant line is busy.)
