The math program at Montana State University-Northern equips you with a comprehensive academic foundation that prepares you for employment in a range of technical fields including actuarial science, computer science, operations research, biomathematics, and finance. A math degree from MSU-Northern opens the door to a wide variety of professional and academic opportunities.
Algebra – Learn about Linear Algebra and Algebraic structures as well as the broader theory of mathematical functions.
Statistics and Analysis – Study methods for accumulating and analyzing data.
Calculus and Differential Equations – Explore the math behind rate of change, slope of curves, and accumulation of quantities.
A Bachelor's in math provides a solid foundation for a number of careers, especially when paired with another technical or scientific-based major. Graduates of the MSU-Northern math program are employed with various corporations, firms, and government agencies. Recent growth in technology has created a higher demand for employees with a math degree and solid analytical background. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics project average or above average growth in direct math occupations through 2020.
