"My time there was mostly spent with officers on patrol, attending city court, sitting in dispatch, or filing records.  For someone wanting to become a law enforcement officer I found the experience beneficial in several ways.  First, it was an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience that is generally unavailable in college coursework.  This helped me connect what I was learning in class to real life situations.  For example, I could see in person how constitutional rights explained in class affected police work on the street by limiting law enforcement authority to a reasonable level."
