Information for Faculty

Supplemental Instruction is academic assistance that utilizes peer-assisted study sessions. Sessions are scheduled, informal review sessions in which students compare notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools, and predict test items. Students learn how to integrate course content and study skills while working together. The sessions are facilitated by students who have previously done well in the course, attend class lectures, take notes, and act as model students.

In collaboration with the library staff we offer mini-workshops in certain areas for example, test taking skills, study skills, writing papers and PRAXIS preparation. We perceive these mini-workshops as an opportunity for students to re-acquaint themselves with topics or skills in which they find themselves out of practice. We are pleased to accommodate any request from faculty to design mini-workshops that could enhance classroom instruction. These mini-workshops could be assigned for extra credit, as an assignment or just simply as a recommendation. Please contact us with any questions or requests at 265-4133 or by e-mailing us at
